AKIRA AMOR TAYLOR
Akira is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in Utah, Idaho, Vermont, Nevada, Washington, New Hampshire, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Virginia. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Integrated Studies in Communications, Spanish, and Psychology from Weber State University and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was nominated most outstanding student and is a member of The National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi by election of the Chapter at the University of Utah.
Akira loves writing prose and has written Rocky Mountain Peace – A Hero’s Journey, and Gluten Freedom – A Journey Through Celiac Dis-ease. Akira also enjoys writing poetry, and as well she has written and illustrated a children's book, Di the Dragonfly. Akira writes songs and sang for several years with the Utah Symphony Chorus as a high soprano. She represented the state of Texas as Mrs. Greater Houston International and Mrs. Greater Houston USA. As well, Akira was first runner-up to Mrs. Vermont. Akira has numerous interests including acting and she enjoyed performing in her first feature-length film role in “Chasing Home.” Akira has written, produced, and been featured in several iReports on CNN.com and HLN.com. She created an iReport for CNN and entered it in the Addiction iReport contest for the Jane Velez-Mitchell show Issues. It was chosen amongst thousands as a winner and aired on national television. Her iReport “The Riverman” was featured on the front page of CNN.com and CNN Mobile.
Akira has competed in numerous 5k and 10k races, and she has run seven marathons. She currently enjoys trail running and motivates people to turn stumbling blocks into stepping-stones by using the analogy of a marathon to inspire them to keep going no matter what life throws in their path. She enjoys aiding clients to drop their stories, converting their seeming tragedies into their very strengths.
Akira enjoyed working in mental health therapy, addiction treatment centers, crisis work, medical social work, in-patient psychiatric care, sales, and hospice, as well as business, personal, and life coaching. She has counseled and coached clients dealing with anxiety, depression, CPTSD, grief, codependency, addiction, physical health problems, familial problems, dispute resolution, and more. Akira also worked in in-patient psychiatric care with veterans and the elderly.
Akira completed Dr. Gabor Maté's year-long training in Compassionate Inquiry as well as Dr. Maté’s Mentorship Course. She completed Dr. Richard Schwartz's Internal Family Systems Course. Akira is a Certified Wayfinder Coach after completing Dr. Martha Beck's nine-month Wayfinder Coaching Course. Additionally, Akira is a Certified Associate Coach in the International Coaching Federation. Akira completed Dr. Eric Pearl’s Reconnective Healing Course. She was personally trained by Dolores Cannon and is a Certified Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique Practitioner. Akira completed an extensive training in The Work of Byron Katie. She studied with Colin Tipping in Radical Forgiveness and is trained and certified in the ancient Hawaiian healing modality, Ho'oponopono. Akira completed Landmark Education's ILP Public Speaking Program. She became interested in Kambô, a substance that aids deep healing, and subsequent to studying with a Kambô Shaman for a year, Akira is a Kambô Practitioner. She is also a Qi Gong Practitioner and she completed Master Chunyi Lin's Spring Forest Qi Gong Course for Health. Akira is certified in Venus Rising’s Shamanic Breathwork and she is an Ordained Minister for Venus Rising’s Shamanic Minister’s Global Network. She completed the martial art course on Wudang with Master Zi Xiao. Akira also enjoys singing, acting, photography, public speaking, and yoga.
Akira believes that being fully present with clients and truly hearing where they are coming from is essential. She thoroughly enjoys shining a flashlight to help others see the way along their journey, enabling them to heal psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually.
